PFRIMMER TRAINING & CERTIFICATION
OPTIONS
Pfrimmer Training at the Pfrimmer Institute at Massage Arts Center, is approved by the International Association
of Pfrimmer Deep Muscle Therapists (IAPDMT). It is the
original work of Thérèse C. Pfrimmer of Goderich,
Ontario, Canada, as she developed it back in the 1940's.
The course is offered to healthcare professionals such
as doctors, nurses, physical therapists, and massage
therapists.
For
your convenience, PICMT is currently organizing classes
in new locations in order to bring the Pfrimmer training
directly to you. Our goal is to make the training more
convenient for working people. Check the website under "Where
Can I Study?" to determine the latest class schedule
information and how to enroll.
The Pfrimmer training consists of two levels.
LEVEL
I -
Eighty hours of training in the basic total body corrective
work
(Diploma
- Level I; Status - "Pfrimmer
Deep Muscle Therapist". )
LEVEL II - Eighty hours of
training in specific, localized corrective moves.
(Diploma -
Level II; Status - "Advanced Pfrimmer
Deep Muscle Therapist". )
CERTIFICATION - After one year
in practice, the Advanced Pfrimmer Therapist may apply
to take the Pfrimmer Certification Exam. (Document
of Certification; Status - "Certified Pfrimmer
Deep Muscle Therapist".)
LEVEL I (80 HOURS)
The Basic Sequence of Pfrimmer Strokes for Comprehensive Total-Body
Correction
The
Pfrimmer Level I portion immerses the student in the
total-body, basic, hands-on technique work of Thérèse
C. Pfrimmer. The student learns to comb the entire body,
muscle by muscle, seeking fascial restrictions, inflammation, and
congestion which impair the movement and function of
that body part. Serious attention is given to the student's
body mechanics and to their accurate execution of the
many detailed strokes. Each student will be observed
individually during class. Additional Pfrimmer instructors
will assist for large classes when needed. The student
learns to deal kindly and supportively with each client; the
student receives support to diffuse their own fears about
working with the seriously handicapped client should
they choose to pursue that direction. Studying the complete
sequence for the total body is imperative for the therapist's
comprehension of corrective body work. It is also vital
for the client's well being. Pfrimmer Level I provides
a sound foundation for all therapists embarking on a
career of corrective bodywork of any type. Successful
completion of the Level I program awards the practitioner
a Level I diploma and the title
"Pfrimmer Deep Muscle Therapist".
LEVEL II (80 HOURS)
Localized Strokes for the Evaluation and Correction of particularly
Difficult Conditions
The
PICMT Level II program provides the student with specially
developed techniques available only through this course,
such as Pfrimmer Muscle Isolation® (PMI) . Pfrimmer
Muscle Isolation (PMI) focuses the student's attention
on key problem areas that often require extra attention.
The Level II program is important for the Pfrimmer practitioner
in evaluating and correcting difficult muscle conditions. Successful
completion of the Level II program awards the practitioner
a Level II diploma, and the title
"Advanced Pfrimmer Deep Muscle Therapist".
PFRIMMER CERTIFICATION EXAM
Additional Credential for Advanced Pfrimmer Practitioners
Upon
successful completion of the Pfrimmer Certification Program
(160 hours comprised of Level I and Level
II), the student has an additional option. After approximately
one year in practice using the Pfrimmer Deep Muscle Therapy
technique, the graduate may apply to take the Pfrimmer
Certification Exam (PCE). This is an optional and additional
credential.
The
Pfrimmer Certification Exam consists of a one-hour
hands-on treatment in which you are required to do
both the Basic Pfrimmer strokes as well as Pfrimmer
Muscle Isolation (PMI) and/or other troubleshooting
techniques you have learned for a specific
body part or for a specific condition which will
be assigned to you at the time of the PCE by
your tester. The fee for the exam is $150, which
pays directly for the time of your two required testers.
Successful completion of the PCE, awards you with
a document of Certification and the title "Certified
Pfrimmer Therapist". Re-certification is required
every five years thru the same hands-on exam. Retesting,
for any reason, is possible for the same fee ($150).
PCE testing is available at Pfrimmer conventions
and at scheduled times published by the Pfrimmer
Institute for Corrective Muscle Therapy (PICMT).
